We had to write to you to say how very pleased we are with Becky’s teeth following the visits she has had with Smilemakers to rectify her teeth which involved her wearing braces.

We must admit after her first appointment many, many months ago, when we first saw the x-rays on her mouth, we could have imagined how wonderful her teeth would look when finally her braces would be removed.

The fact that you had an easy payment scheme for us was excellent, it helped us budget for the treatment, and made it possible for Becky to start the treatment straight away.

She was always given good advice from Dr Webley, the hygienist and the dental nurse, and she gradually learnt to follow their guidance which was to her advantage. The time they took at appointments and their expertise has definitely paid off for Becky and her appearance.

All the reception staff were very friendly and felt like friends by the time she finished her treatment, you were all ready to chat even when you were busy, and it was a pleasure to come into Smilemakers. It does not seem possible that she has today, finished the treatment and will now need her 6 monthly check-ups. It was good to have the before and after photographs – what an improvement.

It was money well spent and I would recommend anyone who needs this treatment to go ahead, especially with the Smilemakers practice.

Last year, we ran a competition in conjunction with Radio Hampshire offering one lucky listener, a free course of orthodontic treatment. We asked the listeners to write in saying why they felt they deserved this fantastic prize.

The lucky winner was 15 year old Emily. Emily has been in treatment with us now for 6 months and is approximately half way through. This is a copy of the letter sent to Radio Hampshire from Emily’s father.
 

Hi Stewart

A few months ago we were very fortunate to win your competition with Smilemakers, now called Octagon dental centre for dental treatment for my daughter Emily. I thought I would give you a half-time report. Emily had the top teeth put in braces by the fantastic Dr Webley and the results so far have been amazing. Her teeth have all now moved into line at the top and the overcrowding that she had has been fixed by the method Dr Webley used.

This week Emily has had her bottom row put into braces and hopefully this will have the same result as the top.

At a time where Emily has had the stress of her GCSE’s, she has been really uplifted by the fact she gets no longer teased about her teeth anymore and can see that Dr Webley has made a brilliant improvement to her teeth.

We entered the competition due to being let down by the NHS and her local dentist, as a guide, we were told we would get an appointment over a year ago for a consultation not treatment just first consult, this despite already being on the list for 18 months – to date we have still heard nothing.

I would like to thank your radio station and Dr Webley again for the treatment we were so lucky to win. If anyone you know is in need of orthodontist care, I would without a moments hesitation recommend this dental centre.

My braces were fitted on March 3rd 2006 and were recently taken off on March 13th 2007. I am extremely happy with how the braces have altered my teeth and am very grateful for the time, care and effort you have given me.

Having a Brace

At the start I was very scared about having my brace but everyone at Smilemakers was very kind and supportive. A lot of older children told me that it would hurt having my brace put in and taken out, but it didn’t, it just felt a bit strange.

Just writing to say a big thank you to you and your Orthodontist, Dr Patricia Webley, for giving Sam such a fabulous smile. The treatment he received from Dr Webley was excellent. He didn’t even have to wear his brace for as long as he thought he would have to. We never have any trouble making appointments, which in some surgeries can be a problem and Sam never had to wait in the waiting room very long before he was seen.

The surgery has a very fresh feel about it as it is new and the treatment rooms are very calming in atmosphere.

We always felt pleased with the service we received and on one occasion we had to make an appointment at short notice, as Sam had a problem with his brace and this was not a problem as he was seen the next day.

Now that Tom’s orthodontic treatment is complete, I wanted to take the opportunity to thank you all at ‘Smilemakers’ for such a fantastic job.

Fitting a brace to a teenager can be a fraught experience. From the start you treated Tom with sensitivity and empathy, which was really appreciated.

The results in just 18 months have been spectacular. The before and after photos show a real difference. I didn’t realise that Tom had a smile! He’s grinning all the time now!
